Welcome to the website dedicated to the Udmurt toponyms of the northwestern part of Tatarstan.

On the northwestern part of Tatarstan live Zaviatsk (Arsk) or southern Udmurts. There are Kukmor Udmurts (Kukmor and Mamadysh districts of Tatarstan) and Shoshma  Udmurts, they live in Baltasy district of Tatarstan, Mari-Turek district of Mary El and  Malmyzh district of Kirov region. (The last two regions will be explored in the near future).

Since ancient times southern Udmurts have been lived on the right bank of the Viatka river, in an isolation from the basic Udmurt ethnic area, mostly in the Tatar environment.
