Picturesque and magic land - so the poets of old talk about Kukmor district. It is located in a very beautiful area: elevated plain, dissected by picturesque river valleys, here and there spread rich forests, fields, arable land, pasture and perennial plants.

The total area is 1493 square meters. km. The territory stretches from north to south. Kukmor is located 120 km from Kazan, and has road and rail links. In Kukmor District there are 16 rivers, 360 springs, of which 250 natural sources have of environmental service passports.

The population is 52.2 thousand people, of which 35.0 thousand live in rural areas and 17.2 thousand in Kukmor. 78.2% of the population are Tatars, 5.5% Russian, 14.2% Udmurt, 1.6% Mari, 0.5% other nationalities.
