Mamadysh is located in a beautiful corner of nature. The region is rich in forests, meadows and lakes. Its area is 260 thousand hectares, and the area is considered one of the largest in Tatarstan. In Mamadysh and in rural areas there are more than 43 thousand people.

According to the decree of Empress Catherine II on the formation of provinces to districts in their composition, September 28, 1781 Mamadysh village was elevated to a district city of Kazan governorship, and since 1796 the Kazan province.

 

Mamadysh district occupies part of the ancient land of Bulgaria on the banks of the rivers Kama and Vyatka. The district was founded in 1931. After the liquidation in 1961 Takanysh district part joined to Mamadysh.
